NORTH CAROLINA DIVE
July 18-20, 2005
Fifteen anxious club members dove to Atlantic Beach, North Carolina.
Three days of diving wrecks in 82-degree water temperature, made the trip worthwhile.
The first day we dove the U.S.S Indra, a navy repair ship in 62 feet of water, thousands of different fish. The second dive of the day was the Titan,
a Coast Guard light ship, plenty of sea life on this dive.
The second day – twenty three miles out to sea we dove the U-352 a German U-Boat sunk in 1942. Visibility 80 feet, 82-degree water temperature, a
great dive. On the way back in we dove the Spar. This truly was a great dive. You could penetrate the entire ship. However it would take several dives.
We saved the best for last, 2 dives on the Carrie Sea. Sand Tiger sharks all over the place, stingrays, huge turtles and so much more. Our club members were busy picking up shark teeth.
Lisa and Michael did a lot of wreck penetration on this trip. Mark discovered a battery-powered lantern in the bowels of the Spar. Little
Joe was using his wreck reel. Amnon brought up shark teeth for his daughters. Bart Jackson found an anchor. Barbara was surveying the main deck of the Indra with so much fish life. Tyler was doing his first
wreck; deep dives with Grand pop Bob. They both found several sharks teeth. Ron and Sherry got plenty of bottom time on this trip. Kenny and Mike took some great shark pictures. Janice and Dick surveyed the
shipwrecks enjoying every minute of the bottom time.
After the last dive all fifteen-club members got together and dined at the Sanitary Food Market. We had 3 days of sunny weather, all the dives
were wonderful. Our newly found boat Capt. Bobbie Cox owner of Diver Down and his crew were great. These were truly the wrecks of the graveyard of the Atlantic. Thanks you all for spending three wonderful
diving days together.
Thanks to Kenny for posting his photographes.
